Curly Hair Care
Curly Hair Care- the Do’s and Do not’s that every woman should know about her waves, spirals and locks!!
Anyone who has naturally curly hair knows that it can be harder to keep healthy and strong. This is especially true with ethnic types of curly hair which tend to consist of thicker, tighter curls.
However, some of the time, the damaged appearance of curly hair is the result of using the wrong types of products, and can be easily avoided. The following are the top five does and don’ts of curly hair care.
1. Do trade your brush for a comb! Brushing curly hair can lead to many types of damage and strain. Curly hair is quite fragile compared to other types of hair, and being brushed through coarse, hard bristles can lead to split ends, breakage and even unhealthy roots.
2. Don’t use styling products which contain alcohol. Avoiding alcoholic ingredients in your products can be one of the easiest changes to make in your curly hair care routine. Simply be aware of the chemicals used in various products and choose ones with lower, less harmful levels of alcohol. This will keep your hair from drying out and becoming even more brittle.
3. Do invest in products especially made for curly hair. Curly hair care products tend to include many natural moisture inducing additives such as fruit extracts, oils and even curl-controlling herbal treatments. If you are unsure what products are best for you, ask your stylist for some suggestions.
4. Don’t cut your hair too short. Curly hair is best left at a shoulder length or longer. This is not so much an issue of appearance as it is hair care and health. When curly hair is cropped into a shorter style, this usually means more maintenance which means more frequent hair cuts. Natural curls can become stressed and dried-out by too many trips to the stylist.
5. Don’t attempt D.I.Y dye-jobs. Hair dying kits which you can purchase from a pharmacy or drug store can be incredibly harmful to all hair types, and avoiding such potentially harmful products is the most important aspect of curly hair care. If you feel a change is color is mandatory, have a trusted professional perform your transformation.
So curly hair care should be at the top of your list.. when wanting to look your best!
